Dr. Till Contzen is a partner at Deloitte Legal and heads the Digital Law service line. He was admitted to the bar in 2012 and specializes in IT law and digitalization. Till advises clients in particular on IT modernization, digitalization of business processes, development and implementation of complex IT solutions (e.g. ERP/CRM systems) as well as cloud migrations and XaaS procurements. With his technological understanding, he translates complex technical topics into legal language and provides clients with comprehensive support in legal, organizational and economic challenges in the context of IT projects.

Digital sovereignty is not a theoretical ideal, but a practical design task. In this masterclass, we use specific project examples to show how organizations can analyse their own sovereignty concerns, derive target images and roadmaps and make well-founded decisions for data, workloads and cloud services. Building on this, we will provide an overview of the particular challenges involved in procuring sovereign IT solutions. We make tangible which organizational skills are required, where real dependencies arise and how trade-offs between control, innovation and cost-effectiveness can be managed in practice.
