DIGITAL X has undergone constant change since its inception. New formats and venues have been added, technological priorities have shifted, and the initial events have given rise to a large community.
2018 | The Beginning
DIGITAL X is kicking off its journey. Through six compact live events across the regions and a grand finale in Cologne, companies, technology partners, and experts will come together for the first time under the umbrella of this new initiative.
2019 | The Community Is Growing
DIGITAL X is once again touring Germany and will conclude with a highlight event in Cologne. In 2019 alone, more than 30,000 guests attended. More and more companies, partners, and visitors are joining the initiative.
2020 | DIGITAL X digital
The pandemic is changing the way we interact in person—and, as a result, DIGITAL X as well. New digital and hybrid formats are emerging and bringing the community together in different ways.
2021 | The City Becomes a Stage
A completely new concept is being developed for DIGITAL X Cologne: Digitalization won’t take place in a traditional exhibition hall, but right in the heart of the city. Spanning 2 million square meters of event space in the heart of Cologne over two days, DIGITAL X will thus become the world’s leading exhibition on digitalization.
2022–2024 | DIGITAL X Becomes a Mainstay
DIGITAL X continues to develop its concept. Year after year, tens of thousands of guests, international speakers, technology partners, startups, and companies come together in Cologne.
2025 | A New Chapter
DIGITAL X continues to evolve with regional events and the DIGITAL X Focus Edition AI in Cologne. Artificial intelligence is now taking center stage—and with it, the question of how technological possibilities can be turned into concrete applications.
2026 | New Locations, New Perspectives
DIGITAL X is once again touring the regions while continuing to develop its main event in Cologne. For the first time, more than 6,000 guests are gathering at Cologne’s Rheinauhafen to experience a unique day focused on AI, the cloud, security, and connectivity.
